STATEMENT/BIO
I explore both abstraction and representation in my work, and tend to lean more toward abstraction during the process. I've explored highly detailed representation in painting, drawing and sculpture, but always come back to a form of the non-figurative. I'm interested in the sensation of the piece through emphasizing formal aspects of color, composition, etc. The human experience, spirituality, and emotion are all themes I explore in my work.
Images from the natural world, landscapes, art history, graffiti, cartoons, and interior design magazines all serve as inspiration and references for my drawings and paintings.

I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida where I attended Douglas Anderson School of the Arts high school, graduating in 1993. Taking a few years in between high school and college to figure out what I didn't want to do in life, I was accepted into the Atlanta College of Art in January 1997. I attended the New York Studio Program my junior year for a semester, and returned to A.C.A. to finish my BFA in 2001. Shortly after, the opportunity came to move to New York City and I excitedly took it. From 2003 until 2011, I lived in Brooklyn, NY working in my studio, participating in group shows, and working as an assistant to Jeff Koons. In March 2011, my wife and I returned to Atlanta, and I'm currently working full-time on my artwork.
